APPLICATION AREAS

Personality Matrix lends itself to use in a wide variety of
possible uses. While it was originally designed for use in a
commercial arena, its broad range of analysis techniques make
it equally suitable for personal use. This document describes
a range of applications areas in which the system has been used
in the past with positive results.

COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS

(1) Recruitment

Undoubtedly the most common use of personality profiling of
this kind is in the field of recruitment. Personality testing
is extremely useful in helping to sift applicants before an
interview; many current users of the software include a manual
questionnaire with their job application forms, and use the
information that these provide to help them to draw up
shortlists of candidates to be interviewed. Once a candidate
does reach the interview stage, Personality Matrix can yield
important insights for the interviewer, helping to highlight
particularly weak points and point the way to possible
problems, which the interviewer can then explore during the
interview itself.

It is important to emphasise that the use of Personality Matrix
(or any other system of this type) does NOT negate the need for
an interview. Personality analysis, even if it could claim to
be perfectly accurate, would only provide a single element in
assessing the suitability of a person for a job.

(2) Assessment

It is becoming increasingly common for users of personality
analysis to run regular assessments of their staff, usually on
a quarterly or biannual basis. By watching for changes in the
personality patterns of their staff, managers have found that
they can often discover possible problems (especially stress-
related difficulties) before they have an undue effect on a
person's quality of work.

(3) Redeployment

In the same way that it can aid in recruitment, Personality
Matrix is a useful tool in the redeployment of staff within an
organisation. By comparing the figures for a new position
against their suitability for their current post, the manager
can quickly assess whether the company (and the candidate) will
benefit from a move or not.

(4) Addressing Specific Problems

If a problem does develop in the workplace, especially one of
an interpersonal nature, Personality Matrix can help to isolate
the cause. Often such difficulties stem from one or more staff
members being under unusual amounts of pressure, and this is
one of the areas in which the software provides particularly
detailed information. Sufficiently experienced users can also
apply the system to more subtle difficulties, such as clashes
between incompatible personality types.

PERSONAL APPLICATIONS

(1) Career Development

Deciding on a career direction is one of the most important,
and most difficult, decisions in life. Personality Matrix
cannot, of course, make this decision, but it can help to point
you in the right direction by emphasising the types of work for
which your personality makes you most suitable.

This concept is taken a stage farther in the AssuredDirect
Careers Library, which includes over one hundred career types
with ideal personality profile types. This Library module is
available only for the Windows version of Personality Matrix.

(2) Job Application

More and more employers are turning to the use of personality
testing to assess candidates for new jobs, and in many cases
the system they use will be the DISC system on which
Personality Matrix is based. In fact, the prospective employer
will often be using Personality Matrix itself as a screening
tool. By running a personality assessment on yourself before
applying for the job, you can reproduce the type of report that
your interviewer will see, and prepare accordingly.

(3) Self-understanding

Many people are interested in developing their own
understanding of themselves, and Personality Matrix can provide
some valuable insights in this respect. Close reading of the
textual report can help to focus on aspects of your personality
which you might not have considered in detail until now.
