                      NETWARE HOSTPRINT V1.0 UPDATE
                        FOR NETWARE FOR SAA V1.3

This file contains important information about installing and running
NetWare HostPrint under NetWare for SAA version 1.3. If you have
NetWare HostPrint installed under NetWare for SAA version 1.1 or 1.2,
you will need to apply an update from this diskette before HostPrint can
be used under NetWare for SAA version 1.3. If you are doing a new
installation of NetWare HostPrint under NetWare for SAA version 1.3, you
will need to follow special procedures described in this file -- the
installation procedure that comes with NetWare HostPrint WILL NOT WORK
when NetWare for SAA version 1.3 has been installed. If you are not
installing NetWare HostPrint now, save these instructions and this
diskette in case you ever decide to install NetWare HostPrint in the
future.

Updating NetWare HostPrint for NetWare for SAA v1.3

The following instructions assume that you have already installed
NetWare HostPrint under NetWare for SAA version 1.1 or 1.2, and you have
successfully installed NetWare for SAA version 1.3.

To update NetWare HostPrint, the NetWare server must be active but
NetWare for SAA (the COMMEXEC NLM) must not be running. First, insert
this HostPrint update diskette into a diskette drive on the NetWare
server. Then, at the NetWare console prompt (":"), enter the following
command:

load a:hpupdate

(If you placed the NetWare HostPrint installation diskette in a drive
other than the "a" drive, change the "a:" in the above command to
identify the appropriate diskette drive.)

You will see a series of messages about files being copied, followed by
a message that PINSTALL.NLM is being loaded. Then the PINSTALL utility
will present a screen which prompts you to confirm the continuation of
the update/installation process, and which informs you about the
progress of that installation. When the installation is complete, press
the Escape key to exit from PINSTALL.

Installing NetWare HostPrint under NetWare for SAA v1.3

The following instructions assume that you have successfully installed
NetWare for SAA version 1.3 on a server on which NetWare HostPrint has
not previously been installed, and you now want to install NetWare
HostPrint.

On a DOS workstation, login or attach to the target server as
"SUPERVISOR" and map a DOS drive (for example, "n:") to the SYS:\SYSTEM
directory on the target server. Next, insert the HostPrint installation
diskette (the diskette that came with the NetWare HostPrint product)
into a diskette drive on the DOS workstation (for example, "a:"). Then
issue the following DOS commands:

copy a:hostprt.* n:
copy a:prconfig.* n:
copy a:*.xlt n:

(Change the "a:" and "n:" in the above commands to identify the
appropriate diskette and network drives, if necessary.)

Finally, use this HostPrint update diskette and follow the procedures
described above in the section entitled "Updating NetWare HostPrint for
NetWare for SAA v1.3".

Running NetWare HostPrint under NetWare for SAA v1.3

For the most part, HostPrint under NetWare for SAA v1.3 works exactly as
described in the HostPrint documentation. However, there are three
minor differences:

The command to load HostPrint is now issued from the NetWare ":"
prompt (the "CS>" prompt no longer exists under NetWare for SAA v1.3),
and the command is now "load hostprt" (NOT "csload hostprt").

The command to unload HostPrint is now issued from the NetWare ":"
prompt (the "CS>" prompt no longer exists under NetWare for SAA v1.3),
and the command is now "unload hostprt" (NOT "csunload hostprt").

Under NetWare for SAA v1.3, the "csdown" command is now implemented as
a .NCF file. You may want to add an "unload hostprt" command to the
  CSDOWN.NCF file.

NetWare 4.0 Considerations

HostPrint cannot be configured to access global print queue objects
defined in a NetWare 4.0 directory. HostPrint accesses print queues
only by means of a file server name and a print queue name (which must
be defined as a bindery object on that file server). Therefore, bindery
emulation must be implemented on each NetWare 4.0 file server that has
print queues which are to be utilized by HostPrint.

When HostPrint is configured to print jobs to a queue on a remote file
server (that is, a file server other than the one on which HostPrint is
running), the HostPrint NLM performs a login as "GUEST" on the remote
server. Therefore, when the remote file server is running under NetWare
4.0, you must make sure that a user named "GUEST", with no password, has
been defined on the remote server and that the "GUEST" user has access
rights to the print queue or queues that are to be used by HostPrint on
that server.
