		Nightmare-3D - A fright in 3 episodes

by David P. Gray, author of the HUGO trilogy

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Venture into the horrific world of the evil Dr. Hamerstein to rescue
your beloved Penelope from the clutches of his terrifying minions.

		Episode 1 - A house of horrors.
Episode 2 - The plasma core.
Episode 3 - Death or glory.

This game continues and expands on the theme set by the original graphics and
text adventure game "Hugo's House of Horrors" by the same author. Unlike the
original game, Nitemare-3D is a fast action 3-D scrolling game featuring full
Adlib/Sound Blaster music, stero digitized sound, mouse and joystick support
in full 256 color VGA.

Although primarily an arcade-style game, much emphasis is given to puzzle
solving with some puzzles ingenious enough to satisfy the most ardent
adventurer. The registered game comes with a selection of four cheat modes
which can be used to tailor the environment to suit puzzle solving or shooting
monsters, depending on individual taste. The game has three selectable
levels of difficulty and features no "video nasties" thus making it suitable
for even young children although the game can get very scary in places.

The graphics in this game consist of some of the most richly colored and
engaging artwork ever seen in a game of this kind, consisting of over 400
separate background tiles and hundreds of character animation frames. This
game does not plunge you into a gloomy world of half-light that has you
reaching for the brightness control! Instead you will be surrounded by
a highly detailed and brightly colored world which will entrance you. In
places you will also find a most welcome helping of humor.

Here are the game features, some of which can be seen in the enclosed screen
shot files NITPRE1.PCX and NITPRE2.PCX. NITPRE1 shows 4 screen shots from
episode 1 and NITPRE2 shows 2 each from episodes 2 and 3. It is best to
view these files in 640x480x256 mode if your VGA card and viewer supports it.

Game features:

* 3-D, 256-color VGA game with music, sound, mouse, joystick, XMS support.

* Auto-mapping display always on-screen. Maps out the walls as you explore
and also shows the position of sliding doors, curtains and monsters.

* Selection of four weapons - a pistol that fires silver bullets, a plasma
gun, a magic wand firing "spells" and a high-powered plasma weapon. Choice
of weapon can be important against some monsters, for example silver bullets
are of little use against a ghost but work extremely well on Vampires!

* Huge variety of monsters. There are around 22 separate characters in the
game, some of them rendered in multi-view 3D. The monsters include
Frankenstein, a Wicked Witch, Count Dracula, Human guards, Robots, Ghosts,
Skeletons, Gargoyles, Aliens and Slime monsters among others. Not
forgetting our dear Penelope and the evil Dr. Hamerstein.

* Secret panels. For example, sliding bookcases. A "secret panel detector"
lights up when you are near a secret panel.

* Locked doors, stairs, dumb waiters, elevators, keys, id-cards controlling
elevators, remote controlled doors and remote controlled cannon.

* Exploding walls.

* Animating walls and objects.

* Interactive walls and objects. Some walls and objects form part of the
many puzzles throughout the game. One of the puzzles in episode one leads
  to a "secret level".

* Quick save/load of game at any time.

* On-demand status display showing monsters, keys and id cards remaining.
