FOLDERBOLT FOR WINDOWS
RELEASE NOTES
Version 1.01

Welcome to FolderBolt for Windows!
----------------------------------

Thank you again for purchasing FolderBolt for Windows. This document
contains information about changes and additions to FolderBolt version
1.01.

As always, please make sure you back up your original FolderBolt
diskette and have a recent backup of your hard disk(s). Then turn to
the User Guide and read the first two chapters. For a quick start,
see the enclosed Quick Reference card, or read page 12 of the User
Guide. Be sure to record your serial number on the back page of your
User Guide. The serial number can also be found in FolderBolt's about
box.

                             ----------

In order to operate effectively, FolderBolt for Windows requires
Windows 3.1 and DOS 5.0 or newer.

                 --- GENERAL HINTS & INFORMATION ---

* When installing FolderBolt, the FolderBolt Administrator is not
copied to you hard disk. We suggest that the FolderBolt for Windows
Administrator not be kept on your hard disk, since if you left it on
the disk and did not password-protect it, it could be inadvertently
used by unauthorized users to bypass your protection if override
capability is turned on.

* When using Windows File Manager, please note that File Manager does
not always update its directory windows automatically. After locking
a directory with FolderBolt, File Manager may still show the
directory's contents. Don't worry; the files are locked, you may need
to simply update File Manager's window manually.

* Remember that when you choose to encrypt a directory, every item in
that folder will be encrypted. If you choose a complex encryption
algorithm, encrypting a large directory may take a good deal of time.

* All Kent*Marsh Ltd. products have been developed using a unique
signature which prevents the owner of another copy of any Kent*Marsh
Ltd. security software from accessing information secured by you.

* Please see the enclosed Kent*Marsh Technical Note for information
concerning using 3rd party applications in a FolderBolt read-only
directory.

* Please note that executable files encrypted by FolderBolt cannot
be run and Windows may give an error message if you try to run an
encrypted executable saying that the application has violated
system integrity. The executable file simply needs to be decrypted by
FolderBolt before it can be run correctly.

* If you notice that File Manager does not update the contents of
directories after FolderBolt locks or unlocks them, please ensure
there is a "FileSysChange=ON" entry in the [386Enh] section of
your SYSTEM.INI file. The SYSTEM.INI file should be located in
your Windows Directory.

* Remember that if you use the FolderBolt Extras to encrypt an
individual file, you can use the FolderBolt Administrator's
Single File Override command to override (decrypt) the file
without needing a password. Naturally, encryption can only be
overridden if your Encryption Preferences were set to allow
override. To override, choose Single File... from the Override
menu in the Administrator and then select the encrypted file from
the selection dialog box the Administrator displays. Note that only
your own copy of Administrator will override your files and
directories; no one else's copy can.
