INTRODUCTION
============
This README.TXT file provides information you may need to properly install
and run HiJaak Import. It includes information on compatibility and
configuration that was acquired through in-house testing and customer
feedback. Problems described in this document may be fixed in a future
release.

If you have problems with HiJaak Import, read this entire document before
calling our Technical Support department. Please note that since the number of
possible computer configurations is virtually unlimited, some
configuration-related difficulties may not be described in this document.

This document will be updated regularly and made available to you along
with product patches on the Inset Systems BBS at (203)740-0063. You can
also GO INSET on CompuServe to find downloadable information there as well.

Undocumented Enhancements_________________________________________________
**The HiJaak Import User's Guide states that no options are available
when you import into WordPerfect for Windows. HiJaak Import now offers
source and destination processing options for images being imported into
WordPerfect. Source and destination processing options are described in
the User's Guide.

**The HiJaak Import User's Guide states that no options are available
when you import images using the Copy to Clipboard command. HiJaak Import
now offers source and destination processing options for images being
copied to the Clipboard. Source and destination processing options are
described in the User's Guide.

**A Hide Options Dialog command is available from the System menu. This
command allows you to prevent the options dialog boxes from appearing
every time you import images into Ami Pro, CorelDRAW, PowerPoint and Word
for Windows. To access the options dialog boxes again, select the Show
Options Dialog command. For more information, see the HiJaak Import Help
file.

On-line Documents_________________________________________________________
On-line Help files are more current than the printed documents. They
contain information not available at the time of printing. Where there is
a disagreement between the two, follow the on-line recommendations.
**TBLSHOOT.HLP
This "Troubleshooting Help" file is available from the HiJaak PRO program
group after you install. It contains tips, tricks and workarounds for
problems you may encounter using HiJaak PRO. To read this file,
double-click on the Troubleshooting icon in the HiJaak PRO program group.
If you don't see the icon, pull down the Program Manager File menu, click
on Run..., and type the following command:
      WINHELP c:\hjimport\trouble.hlp
where c:\hjimport is replaced by your path to HiJaak Import. You can also
use this command from the HiJaak Import Install disk (Disk1) to read the
file before you install.

User Guide Corrections and Clarifications_________________________________
Page 1-7: Installing on a Network The Note states that your server must
run Windows 3.1. This is not the case. Rather, the workstation from
which you are installing HiJaak Import onto the server must run
Windows 3.1.
Page 2-2, 4-3: Table of Supported Formats The following formats are
supported by HiJaak Import, but are not listed in this table:
     CLP Windows Clipboard (vector)
     PCX PC Paintbrush (raster)
     PIX Inset Systems (raster)
Page 3-4: Trim Surrounding Whitespace The manual states that this option
allows the image to retain its original shape. In this case, "image"
refers to the actual contents of the window, not necessarily including
the whitespace. For example, if you have a tall and narrow graphic in a
square white area, using Trim Surrounding Whitespace will usually produce
a tall and narrow graphic, not a square one.

Before You Call
===============
Before you call our technical support group, please read this document
for any installation, configuration or compatibility information. You may
also refer to the on-line documents listed in the Documentation section
above for further help.

If you need to contact technical support after referring to the above
sources of help, please be at your computer and have the following
information ready for out technical support personnel:

               - HiJaak Import version
               - Computer make and model
               - Printer/plotter make and model
               - Graphics card type
               - Fax card make and version (if applicable)
               - Names of application programs used with HiJaak Import
               - Contents of your system's CONFIG.SYS and
                   AUTOEXEC.BAT files

When you call our technical support group, you will be asked for your last
name and zip code in which the product is registered, (or will be
registered). This information allows us to track the reason for your call,
thereby allowing us to improve the usability and quality of future products.

ENVIRONMENT
===========
System Requirements_______________________________________________________
For information on HiJaak Import system requirements, please refer to the
System Requirements section of Chapter 1: Installation in the HiJaak
Import User's Guide.

DOS Environment Path______________________________________________________
HiJaak Import looks for a DOS environment path when it imports PCL files.
This path must exist for HiJaak Import to function properly; however it
does not have to include HiJaak Import.

INSTALLATION
============
Creating the HiJaak Import Subdirectory___________________________________
By default, HiJaak Import installs its files into C:\HJIMPORT. If you
choose to install in another directory, note that HiJaak Import can
create a subdirectory only one level below an existing subdirectory.

Problems Installing HiJaak Import_________________________________________
If you have problems installing HiJaak Import, you may need to perform a
manual installation: Create a temporary subdirectory on your hard drive
(i.e. C:\HJTEMP). Copy all the files from the installation diskettes to
that directory. (Do not worry if DOS warns you that some files are being
overwritten. This warning is caused by verification files on each disk
that are not required by the manual installation.) After you have copied
all the files to the temporary directory, restart Windows. From the
Program Manager choose File/Run. Enter:
c:\hjtemp\_isi_stf.exe
Choose Network Install and Workstation Install to complete the installation.

COMPATIBILITY
=============
Network Support___________________________________________________________
HiJaak Import is developed and tested on a Novell network running NetWare
3.11. It has not been tested with any other networks.

CorelDRAW 4.0_____________________________________________________________
HiJaak Import's filters conflict with those for CorelTRACE. When you try
to import a PCX, GIF, TGA, PCD or JPG file into CorelTRACE, it will give
you a "File locked" error message. If you need to import images in these
formats into CorelTRACE, do the following:
-Exit CorelTRACE (and CorelDRAW)
-Run HiJaak Import Setup
-In the Select Filters dialog box, deselect the check box in the
Install HiJaak Filter column for GIF, JPG, PCD, PCX and TGA. For
instructions on how to do this, see the HiJaak Import User's Guide.
