Training is far more important in PS than in any other management game.
There are two distinct effects; the first on the development of young players
the second as part of the weekly preparation for your next opponents.
Young players are still developing their skills up to the age of 26 in
PS. Up to the age of 20/21 they develop as they age and should be left to do
that in the hands of the youth coach. Between the age of 21 and 26 training
and first team experience will determine the direction in which improvements
are made. You can increase their natural skills or work on their weaknesses
whichever suits your team's needs the most. Older players can have their rate
of deterioration slowed by suitable training.
Each week you will need to prepare for your opponents with suitable
training. Stamina training affects skills (1) and (5). Skill training affects
skills (2) and (3). Goalscoring training affects skills (4) and (5). 5-a-side
and tactics training affects overall teamwork. Immediately before your team
selection you will be asked to change or confirm your training regime (except
before mid-week fixtures).
With suitable training you can emphasise particular skills to match
your choice of tactics. Most important particularly against superior sides.
