Premier Soccer is the latest in a line of soccer management games beginning
with League Division One in 1983. Each of the games has introduced some new
features into the genre and Premier Soccer is no exception. All games so
far have essentially been transfer market games; ever better players leading
to a squad that can win everything without much management skill.
Premier Soccer introduces a far more sophisticated link between players'
skills and tactics than has been seen before. Rather than go into a match
knowing from the comparison of skills which team will win PS will allow you
tactical possibilities which can be used to overcome superior players. The
skills of the opposition manager may also mean that you lose to superior
tactics even though your team may be the better one.
Training also comes into the equation. The training you choose the week
before a match can be used to maximise the skills of your players or to
compensate for their weaknesses depending on your reading of the opposition.
Premier Soccer has been designed to put the game player's knowledge of
the real game to the test. Success and failure is far more a measure of your
understanding of the game than any previous computer simulation.
