MapLinx Self-Running Demo
===============================================================
Thank you for your interest in MapLinx, the Graphic way to see
your data! This demo has been created to give you information on
what MapLinx can do for you. We've taken great care to create a
demo that is interesting, informative, and easy for you to use.
The information below covers how to install and run the demo.
We've also included a feature in the installer that will let
you un-install the demo, after you've finished your evaluation.
We hope you will find that the demo answers your questions
about MapLinx, and that after watching it, you'll find that our
product will be invaluable to you in your work. Information on
where to purchase MapLinx can be found at the end of the demo.
If you have any questions about MapLinx, please call us at

===============================================================
HOW TO INSTALL THE MAPLINX DEMO
===============================================================
You may run the install program from the "Run..." menu item
from either the Windows Program Manager, or the Windows File
Manager. Alternately, you may open a File Manager window on the
drive that contains the disk, and then double-click on
SETUP.EXE. The installer will start, and prompt you for a
location to install the demo. The default is C:\MAPLINXD. The
installer and the demo are both Windows programs and cannot be
run from DOS.

The demo takes up approximately 2.3 MB installed. The installer
will ask if you want to create a Program Manager group for the
demo. If you do not choose to have the installer perform this
function, the demo filename is MAPLINXD.EXE, and will be found
on the directory you chose during the installation process.

===============================================================
HOW TO RUN THE MAPLINX DEMO
===============================================================
If you allowed the installer to create a Program Manager group,
you may open Program Manager and the MapLinx Demo group, then
double-click on the MapLinx Demo icon. The following keys will
allow you to navigate from within the demo:

ESC (Escape Key) - Ends/quits the demo
ALT-F4		 - Ends/quits the demo
SPACEBAR - Pauses the demo (pressing it again will
		   resume the demo)
RETURN/ENTER key - Jumps to the credits/purchasing information
UP Arrow key - Jumps to the beginning of the demo
RIGHT Arrow key - Jumps to the next topic of the demo
LEFT Arrow key - Jumps to the previous topic of the demo
ALT-TAB - Switches to any other running programs

===============================================================
HOW TO UN-INSTALL THE MAPLINX DEMO
===============================================================
You may run the MapLinx installer to un-install the demo. This
will remove it from your hard disk, and (if you chose to have
the installer add a Program Manager group for the demo) remove
the group and the program icons for the demo. If you had the
installer add the Program Manager group, you may run the
Installer from the Program Manager. Alternately, you may run
the installer (SETUP.EXE, found on the drive/directory where
you installed the demo) from the "Run..." option in either
Program Manager or File Manager, or you may double-click on the
SETUP.EXE file in the MapLinx Demo directory from within File
Manager. You do not need the original disk to un-install the
demo. The only file that will be left behind will be a copy of
VBRUN200.DLL, the Visual Basic run-time library that the
installer uses. (The un-install program cannot delete this
file, as it is in-use during the un-installation process.)
VBRUN200.DLL is used by an ever-increasing number of programs,
so you may not need or wish to delete this file.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEMO
===============================================================
You will need a computer that runs Windows 3.1 or later. If
your computer will run Windows adequately, it will run this
demo without any problem. For best performance, we recommend
that you have no less than a 386-SX with 4MB of RAM, a VGA card
running at least 640 x 480, 16 colors, and a hard disk with at
least 2 MB free space. (If you don't have a system that meets
the above requirements, you could not run Windows OR MapLinx,
so there would be little point in running this demo.) The demo
will NOT run on Monochrome systems, and will not perform
correctly on Grayscale systems. The demo will run without
difficulty at higher resolutions or on SVGA systems that
support more than 16-colors. You will not gain anything as far
as the demo is concerned by running in higher resolutions or
with more colors, as it is optimized for 640 x 480, 16 colors.

The demo was programmed using Macromedia Director 3.13 on a
Macintosh IIci, and ported to Windows with Macromedia Director
Player for Windows.
