 SerView Quick Install, revised 9/28/93

 Installing SerView

 Step 1

Select the computer on which you want to install SerView. Make sure that
this computer is properly connected to the network and can login to the
    NetWare server.

 Step 2

Insert the SerView distribution diskette into drive A: and change to this
drive (substitute B for A if necessary). The 'A>' (or 'B>')prompt appears.

 Step 3

Type 'setup' and press the Enter key. A menu is displayed; select 'First
Time Installation'. You are then asked to specify the Install Directory
(i.e. C:\SERVU). The following menu is now displayed:

			Parameter Information
			Volume Information
			Registration Information
			Advanced Setup
			Create New Setup

The first three menu selections above ask you to provide information. The
last menu item creates a new setup based on the information you enter, so
it should be selected after the other menu items have been selected and
the information was correctly entered. We suggest you select the menu
items and enter the requested information, from the top down. If you need
more information, please refer to the SerView User Manual.

The 'Create New Setup' option copies the necessary files from the
diskette to the install directory that you have specified. It then
creates the network volumes you have defined as well as the LOGIN, MAIL,
PUBLIC, and SYSTEM directories under the SYS: volume. All directories are
empty. Upon successful installation, an appropriate message is displayed
on the screen. SerView installation is now complete.

 Administrating SerView

To administer SerView, use the standard NetWare utilities such as SYSCON,
MAP, LOGIN, etc. You can use the utilities residing on your NetWare
server to administer SerView. Alternatively, you can copy these
utilities from the NetWare server to the SerView server. For simplicity,
make sure the utilities are copied to directories with the same name.
For example, copy utilities from the PUBLIC directory on the NetWare
server to the PUBLIC directory on the SerView server. At a minimum, you
should consider copying LOGIN.COM and SLIST.EXE files from the LOGIN
    directory and LOGIN.EXE, LOGOUT.EXE, SLIST.EXE, MAP.EXE, SYSCON.EXE,
    SYS$MSG.DAT, SYS$HELP.DAT, SYS$ERR.DAT, $RUN.OVL, IBM$RUN.OVL,
CMPQ$RUN.OVL, and the SYSCON.HLP files from the PUBLIC directory.

 Running SerView

To run SerView automatically each time you boot the SerView server PC,
you should modify its AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add the following lines
(assuming you installed DOS to C:\DOS and SerView to C:\SERVU):

C:\DOS\SHARE ; A DOS driver required by SerView to support file locking
		CD \SERVU
		SERVU
		CD\

To activate this new setup, re-boot the SerView server PC. You can now go
to any network station, log in to the SerView server as SUPERVISOR and
    create users using SYSCON.
