To apply the update do the following:

  - Unzip this update into the your Dune II directory.
** IMPORTANT ** be sure to overwrite the old DUNE2.EXE with the one in
this update, otherwise the patch program will not work properly.

  - Run PATCH.EXE

  - Unzip DUNE2FIX.ZIP and overwrite the current DUNE2.EXE with the one in
this zip file included with this update. You must do this AFTER running
PATCH.EXE or the update will not work properly.

  - That's it. You should see a V 1.07 on the bottom right corner of the
Dune II title screen. If for some reason it doesn't work, make sure
you've replaced the old DUNE2.EXE with the one included in this update.

It appears that this updated code only required one change to crack both doc
checks unlike the original release which needed two changes. To be sure I've
played this game all the way through with one house and both doc checks are
fixed, just hit enter when asked.

I don't know all the things this update fixes/changes, but during play I've
noticed some.

  - Starport Frigate didn't get stuck, even with orders of 10-20 vehicles, in
the original the countdown to arrival would stop and 0 and the frigate
    would never arrive.

  - Starport all out of stock problem seems to be fixed, in the original
when playing a scenario and you go to order something from the Starport
after some time every item would be out of stock, even if you didn't
order a single thing earlier in the current campaign. Items now go out
out of stock after you order them out, and if you wait, more will become
available, the longer you wait, the more stock comes in.

  - Some campaigns have been changed, different enemy placement and rock
stuctures. Can't decribe it here, but if you play you'll probably see it.

  - Sabotuers can now be seen, it is a single grey man running, he moves
    fairly fast.

  - The 'our base is under attack' message now comes up every time you are
under attack, or at least when I noticed, sometimes I heard it and I
didn't see anything attacking me, oh well.

  - The cost of doing repairs is less that before.

  - Harkonenn and Saudukar Palace missles do slightly less damage that before,
previously they take out a 6x6 area. Now instead of a square explosion,
    it's a cross shaped explosion.

  - The enemy will replace their buildings as soon as they can as long as
they have a construction site, so blasting that should be your first
priority from now on, this applies particularly to rocket turrets which
the enemy re-builds quickly, and for some reason is able to build
    without connecting concrete.

Some people have been asking about certain things, so I'll answer them now:

Q: How come after my units are repaired, they aren't returned to the
battle area always via a carry-all.

A: A carry-all will only pick up a vehicle in the repair base if all sides
of the building are blocked (ie no place for the vehcile to emerge from
the building. Usually it's blocked by all your previously repaired
vehicles still standing beside the building. If you want vehicles
constantly returned simply build the repair base so it's surrounded,
like in the middle of your base. This also helps protect the repair
building which is a prime (and expensive) target by the enemy.

Q: I keep getting 'unable to create more' when trying to make another
     building?

A: Every campaign has a limit on the number of buildings, this count
includes defense turrets. Walls and cement is not counted. In the last
campaign, the limit is so tight you can only make one of each building
while still keeping enough turrets to defend the base. If you need more
buildings, like a windtrap or a second heavy factory, trash your light
factory and the high tech factory, and order those items from the
Starport since they aren't needed often.

Q: I keep getting 'unable to create more' when trying to make another
     vehcile?

A: Nothing you can do, scrap some of the lower vehicles like quads and
trikes, or infantry. You should have tons of vehicles by the time
     you get this message.

Q: Arrrg! Those darned rocket turrets on the enemy base are a pain to kill.
     Is there an easier way?

A: Yep, those turrets are medium range, so, position your launchers right
outside range, but close enuf to fire on the turret. This may require
a little experience to get right, but it can be done. Tanks usually
do the job faster, so if you got 4-5 siege tanks you can take a turret
     out fairly easily.

Q: The enemy keeps blowing up half my base with those missles.

A: Well, there are two ways to get around this. The hard was is to make
two construction sites far apart, or keep a MCV handy so if the
construction site goes up, you can re-build. The easy way to is save
your game often, and then re-load it everytime your base goes up. Be
careful you don't save the game while the missle is in the air cause
there's no turning back at that point. You can also do this to make
sure YOUR missles always hit if you got 'em.

Q: The spice has run out!?!?

A: You're fucked, search around for any tiny patches you can find, cause
even a small patch can have a full harvester load worth of spice. To
keep this from happening you should find where the enemy is harvesting
and blow up his harvesters constantly, this also help divert attacks
away from your base. Don't shoot ANY of the mounds, use up all the
spice already out first. The enemy won't touch the mounds. Be careful
your vehicles don't drive over them accidently. The hardest are the
second to and last campaigns. On the last campaign, which always has the
same usually, send some vehicles to the middle left and right sides of
the play area once you get your base set up and stable. Most of the
spice is there, guard it. Send out cannon fodder scouts, a trike is
best, and search for the enemy. This is also helpful if you want to see
what the enemy base looks like and find his construction site, cause you
can run in real quick before you get blasted.

Ok, that's it. Enjoy the game.
