I'm am writting this for three purposes. One, no one else does it very
often, and I felt it was an interesting and relevant topic. Two, this is
somewhat of a praise to the groups that tried so hard to compete to get
the wares to us - oh-so very fast. And three, its 5am, what could be
  more stimulating? Jeeez...

  D I S C L A I M E R. Don't read this if you are overly sensitive about
pirate group politics. It is only one man's fact finding and opinions
and may not be entirely accurate. This being written anonomously for
the fact that, well, most of us ARE overly crazed about pirate group
  politics.

  I N T R O D U C T I O N. Its now been appox. 15 hours since there was a
little chaos about the Police Quest 4 : Open Season release. Following
is a short summary on the groups who released the games and how it
happened as far as I could observe.

 P U B L I C E N E M Y. PE was on the ball with this release, they
managed to get most or all of thier release up to Ice Station Zebra and
Unlawful Entry before anyone else. For a group that does next to nothing,
you gotta give them credit for such a major release and a well coordinated
courier job. They undercut the best when the best thought it could
never be done, thus our next player...

R A Z O R. Well as always, Razor held thier head up high and claimed
this one above all others. I don't know what exactly happened on Mirage
this afternoon, but when they were finished with it, the listings showed
the Razor release first, and the TDT & PE ones nuked as duped. No sign
of Nexus at all. You can only laugh at Razor for being so forceful
about this one, because you get no where if you argue about it with them.
They could release something an hour after anyone else, and still win,
for the simple fact they hold Mirage. I've got a good feeling thats what
happened in this case, I may be wrong.

T D T. Seems the 1st disk got around quite a bit, Mirage, Ice Station,
UE, but there was no sign of the rest, the other groups came in and
cleaned up. I was told that in a discussion with Hard Core about 2 hours
after the release was being moved, he was asked if TDT had all 12 disks
on any major board. He replied with, ya, The Wall. Figure THAT one out.
Dispite all this, the 12 disks were NOT on the TDT WHQ for approx 14
hours, and Razor beat them to it on Alpha 2010 (TDT CourierHQ) for at
least 7 disks. I think that best states the situation of the Teams
 courier coordination right now.

N E X U S. Well Nexus thought they had this one cleaned up at around
noon, but there were some problems with packaging and something went
wrong. Nexus managed to get it to thier Canadian HQ, but as far as I
can see thats just about it. Although there was potential, they didn't
play a very big part when it came to the major boards.

  S U M M A R Y. I'd say Public Enemy and Razor did a superb job on this
release, and I'd have to call it double, but if I was forced to pick,
I'd say PE took it. Elusive Dream would have helped as a big factor
(being independent) but I beleive its been down for the past day or two
so didn't play a part. Razor would be second place, primarily for the
fact they have it on Mirage first. TDT's effort was pretty scarce minus
the first disk, and Nexus... not even close.

============================================================================
Well.. All I have to add is that the similar, although smaller confusion
happened with Quest For Glory. It was released by 3 major groups -
Public Enemy, PTG and RZR. RZR was so slow - they were even beaten to
their own WHQ - Mirage. Both PTG and PE were good, but I'd say PE did a
better job on spreading their release.
