These diskett(es) contain an updated version of the Monologue speech
accessory for Windows 3.1. There are two versions of Monologue
available, one for speech cards supporting 8-bit PCM audio (one
diskette) and one version for speech cards supporting 16-bit PCM
audio (two diskettes). The contents must be installed onto a hard
drive by running the INSTALL.EXE program found on the first diskette,
from within Windows. The INSTALL program will not run from the DOS
shell.

1. INSTALLATION

The INSTALL program creates the necessary directory and sub
directories on your hard drive and copies the files from the Monologue
diskettes to the new directories. It will also create a Monologue
group in the Program Manager.

2. CONFIGURATION

To use any of the Monologue software, you will have to modify you PATH
in AUTOEXEC.BAT to include C:\MONOLOGW (or whatever name you chose
during installation).

Before running Monologue, ensure that your system has a Windows sound
driver selected, and that a speaker or headphones are plugged into
the output of the sound card. The instruction booklet provided with
your sound card will describe how to install the card and load the
appropriate driver software into Windows. To verify that your sound
card is working correctly, run the Windows Control Panel (Main
program group), and double-click on the Sound icon. This will bring
up a Dialog Box for selecting system sounds. If you now click on the
Test button, you should hear sound. You may want to adjust the sound
volume at this point.
