and MIDI file samples available, and we'd like to give credit where it's due:

WAVE files

ROM. SFX CD ROM Volume #1 is available at your local software retailer or by

to develop CD technology for storing musical instrument samples and sound FX.
Today, Prosonus produces and distributes over 30 audio products for numerous
markets. Although they have developed a number of products, one thing has

                             Technical Information

WAVE files
The SFX Sound Effects WAVE file samples are recorded as 8-bit mono audio.

WAVE files as well as CD audio tracks of these samples and 280 other sound

MIDI files
The MusicBytes MIDI files conform to the MPC specification for extended and
base level MIDI devices. There are 16 channels available in MIDI and the
MusicBytes MIDI files contain data in all but two of these channels. You
must select which of these channels will play with your synth card or
external device. If your device attempts to play all of the available
channels, you may get a very undesirable result. The MIDI Mapper is the
applet you use to select these channels. It is found in the Control Panel of
your Windows "Main" group.

First you need to determine whether your MIDI device is extended level (high
end) or base level (low end). An extended level device, such as the Roland
Sound CanvasTM, has high-quality sound and should use MIDI channels 1 through
10 only. Therefore, MIDI channels 1 through 10 should be checked active and
channels 11 through 16 should be inactive in your Windows MIDI Mapper if you
are using one of these devices. A base level device, such as a Sound
BlasterTM or Ad LibTM card, should use MIDI channels 13 through 16. MIDI
channels 1 through 12 must be inactive in your Windows MIDI Mapper if you are
using one of these devices. Channels 11 and 12 are never used and should
always be inactive. If you are unclear on whether you have an extended or
base level device, contact the device manufacturer and ask them about using
their product with MPCs or other multimedia systems.

MIDI files
The MusicBytes MIDI file samples are license-free for all non-broadcast and
performance applications. In fact, MusicBytes is the only music and sound FX

credit for all titles that incorporate cuts from MusicBytes. In your
literature and on any title or credit screen, please credit Prosonus in the
following manner: "Music Copyright 1991 Prosonus".

No additional payment for broadcast rights are necessary, but we do require
