		 formatted by other programs."

Pg. 166 the second paragraph should read, " 4. OPTune 1.x will.."

Pg. 168 replace all occurrences of "OPT286.PIF and OPT386.PIF"
		 with "OPTW30.PIF"
Due to the nature of OPTune when running under Windows,
run ONLY Verify/Fix in read-only mode and Check-Disk in
Report Only mode. Do not run any other functions.
		 DISASTER may result!

Pg. 183 the last sentence should read, "...OPTune 1.x..."

Pg. 210 add this sentence to the second paragraph, "If
Check-Disk reports not enough memory run DOS's CHKDSK
		 to fix errors."

Pg. 215 the first sentence under the subtopic Program Features
should read, "Edit up to 10 files simultaneously (16 MB

Pg. 230 the fifth paragraph should read, "G-Edit allows you to
have up to 10 file windows for editing."

Pg. 276 the last two paragraphs should be labeled "IBMBIO/IO"
		 and "IBMDOS/MSDOS" respectively.

                            A Warning about STACKS
                            ----------------------
Because Back-It is a multitasking program we must have interrupt
stacks. The default setting is "STACKS=32,128". You should see this
command in your CONFIG.SYS file. However, if you are running Windows
3.1, we recommend a setting of "STACKS=32,256". On some systems we
had to set the stacks to 48,256 to work properly. If you use DR DOS
version 5.0 or 6.0 the STACKS is ignored. You will have to set the
"Compatibility Mode" under Configure Other Settings in Back-It to Normal.

Additional Information About Command Line Switches
    --------------------------------------------------
      /4 Force 43-line mode
      /5 Force 50-line mode
/A Reset archive flag after copy
      /C Force Color option
/F Set up floppy drives with letters higher than B:
      /K Specify Keystrokes
/MB Set mouse to block mode
      /MN Turn off the mouse
/N Additional uses of the /N switch
      /Q The Quick-return switch
/P Turn off API calls (Novell Only)
/T Turn off the main screen clock

    /4
    --
The /4 switch allows the user to start Q-DOS in a 43-line mode.
This is available only on EGA and VGA monitors.

    /5
    --
The /5 switch allows the user to start Q-DOS in a 50-line mode.
This is available only on VGA monitors.

    /A
    --
The /A switch will cause Q-DOS 3 to reset the archive flag after
      a file is copied.

WARNING: Indiscriminate use of the switch may reset
the archive flag of new or newly modified files,
preventing them from being selected for backup by
              Back-It or other backup programs.

    /C
    --
The /C switch allows a user to force Q-DOS 3 to run in color on
8514/A systems. This will also work for any color system that runs
      QDOS 3 in monochrome.

    /F
    --
On startup, Q-DOS 3 scans all drive letters after B:, deciding for
each one whether it is a local or network drive. If you have a
floppy drive that can be accessed with a drive letter after B:,
you will need to use the /F switch.

For example, if you have an external floppy drive D:, you would
      use the command:

                    QD3 /FD

where "/F" is the switch, and "D" is the drive letter. After this
command, drive D: will be considered a "Floppy" drive, which means
that no log file will be maintained for it, and the drive will
also be excluded from a "FIND" command across all drives.

    /K
    --
You may specify up to 10 keystrokes to be stuffed into the
keyboard buffer upon startup of Q-DOS 3. This series of characters
follows the /K switch. For example, to force Q-DOS 3 to begin with
LAYOUT set to DIR X FILE mode, run Q-DOS 3 as follows:

                    QD3 /KLD

The "LD" characters are the keystrokes to enter the LAYOUT command
      (L) followed by selecting DIR X FILE (D).

    /MB
    ---
Change the mouse cursor to a standard block. Use this if you are
having problems with mouse in pointer mode.

    /MN
    ---
      Turn off all mouse support.

    /N Some additional uses.
    -------------------------
If you have an external floppy (see /F switch), Bernoulli
Box, Kodak drive, or some other removable media, Q-DOS 3 will
try to read the drive even when it has no disk or cartridge in it.
To keep Q-DOS from trying to access your drive on startup, run
      Q-DOS with the /N switch.

For example, if your Bernoulli Box is drive E:, you would start
Q-DOS with a command such as this:

              QD3 /NE

Q-DOS would then leave drive E: alone when initializing other
      drives.

NOTE: Any drive appearing after the "/N" will not be
accessed in the fastest, native mode of Q-DOS 3. UNERASE
will be unavailable on that drive, and PRUNE and GRAFT
              will be slower.

Generally, if you plan to use the above special commands
on removable drives, make sure that a disk or a cartridge
is installed in the drive before running Q-DOS 3.

Q-DOS and the DOS APPEND command
      --------------------------------
The APPEND command will allow data files (non EXE, COM, BAT) in
the APPENDed directory to be accessible from any drive and
directory. If the root directory of a local hard drive is
APPENDed, Q-DOS 3 may have trouble bringing up the proper
      Directory Map.

To remedy this situation, get rid of the APPEND command. However,
if you are using some older software that requires the APPEND
command, run Q-DOS 3 with the /N switch (see above paragraph).

      For example: QD3 /NCDE For APPENDed drives C:, D:, and E:.

    /Q
    --
The Quick switch. Running Q-DOS 3 with this switch causes Q-DOS 3
to NOT display the "Press any key to Return to Q-DOS" message after
      running a program from within Q-DOS 3. Instead, Q-DOS 3 will
immediately return to the main screen after the program terminates.

    /P
    --
This switch is supplied as a work around for problems in Novell
NetWare 2.2 and 3.1x. If you access a mapped drive letter that
is not a volume's root directory, the directory map will not
      display any directories.

    /T
    --
The /T switch will turn off the clock on the main screen. This
switch is for systems running under Desqview. If a mouse driver
is not loaded, using the /T switch when starting up Q-DOS 3 will
greatly reduce the system overhead when Q-DOS 3 runs in a background
      window under Desqview.

    Q-DOS 3 and DR DOS 5.0 and 6.0
    ------------------------------
Q-DOS 3 has been tested with Digital Research (R) DOS 5.0 and 6.0.
The only known problems with DR DOS 5.0 are:

      1) It will allow a user to make subdirectories deeper than the
MS-DOS limit. If a system is set up with subdirectories deeper
than the MS-DOS limit, Q-DOS 3 will have problems accessing them.

      2) If a user tries to copy or move a directory to an unformatted
floppy, it will result in memory allocation errors and a machine
         lockup.

    Unerase in Q-DOS 3
    ------------------
Unerase is a very powerful command, allowing you to reclaim files
you thought were permanently gone. There may be situations where
Q-DOS 3 tells you it can unerase a file with 100% certainty.
But, due to the way DOS works with your hard disk, this may not
      be the case.

For example, if, after erasing a file, DOS writes a file to the
disk, the cluster (block of disk space) in which the erased file
was located may have been overwritten with the new file. When
Q-DOS 3 analyzes the disk structure to prepare for unerasing the
first file, it may pick up the clusters that originally belonged
to that file, but it does not know that they were overwritten by
the new file. When Unerased, the file will be corrupted.

The previous can also occur when the erased file was fragmented
on the disk, i.e., the clusters belonging to that file were not
in a single contiguous chain. When the file was erased, DOS
erased all but the first cluster pointer in the chain; Q-DOS 3
assumes the file is contiguous on the disk. Q-DOS 3 has no way
of properly guessing which clusters belong to the file. The
unerased file will consist of clusters that never belonged
      to the original file.

To give you the best chance to unerase an erased file, we suggest
you use OPTune each day to defragment your hard disk. This will
keep all your files contiguous on the disk and significantly
increase the odds of unerasing even the largest files.

OPTune will make your hard disk run much faster and
efficiently, reducing the wear and tear on your drive!
