Additional TurboCom News

Version 1.2.0

1) TurboCom now provides a baud rate setting mechanism that
is fully compatible with Win 3.1, while retaining the original
mechanisms introduced by TurboCom. This means that Procomm for
Windows users will be able to directly set baud rates above
19.2 kBaud in both Windows 3.0 and 3.1.

TurboCom 1.1.0 - July 18, 1991

1) There is now an install program.

To use the install program, place the TurboCom installation
disk in your A: or B: floppy drive, log into your Windows
directory, (e.g. C:\WINDOWS> ), type A:INSTALL or B:INSTALL,
and press ENTER.

The install program is fairly verbose, and will let you know what
is going on. If you have installed other third party comm drivers,
it will complain bitterly and give up trying to install TurboCom.
The only third party comm drivers we are aware of are those
provided with; FAXIT from Alien Software for their FAX software,
Printer Control Panel from LazerTools for control of laser printers,
and HAYES for their ESP serial port board.

2) As of this version of TurboCom (Ver 1.1.0)There is no longer
a [TurboCom] section in the SYSTEM.INI file. All the profile
strings that have been in the [TurboCom] section of your
SYSTEM.INI file should be place in the [386Enh] section.

3) As of this version of TurboCom (Ver 1.1.0) there the meaning
of the COMxDeviceType= profile string has been altered slightly.
If you set COMxDeviceType=0 (which is the default value), where
x = the comm port number, then TurboCom will use fully automatic
UART detection. You may override the detection mechanism by
specifing a specific value for this profile string. See the
TURBOCOM.TXT file on the distribution disk for further information.

4) The zipped file TAPCIS.ZIP contains a PIF file for TAPCIS,
the automated logon/mail reader for Compuserve. This PIF file
is also an excellent starting point for any creating a PIF file
for any DOS based comm program, including BBSes.
