The Tales of Sophy - Introduction

The Tales of Sophy is my, BadMrBox, entry for DarkDreads MiniRPG compo. The start date for this competition was February 8th 2002 and the end date November 29th 2002.

The minimum systems specs for the game to be playable on is ;
Pentium, 100mhz, or compatible
16MB ram,
256 colour VGA screen.

As my Computer is just a sucky Pentium 100mhz I do not need to worry about if the games runs under thoose surcomstances.
Each tile or sprite can only have 16 colors (transparent included) and there can only be 64 different colors on the screen at the same time. I hope that I have followed this rule as closely as possible.
The game should be at a minimum of 30 minutes of gameplay. I think I managed with that... As for music you could have 8 channels, 16bit mono's,44khz and ten second samples. This is not disturbing me at all because I have NO sound at all. Bite me.

The Story

You are Sophy, elvish action girl. Sophys sister and her friends are out in the forrest picking flowers. Suddenly a group of human slave-handlers captures them and takes them away. Sophy's is right in time to see this and follows them determend to free her sister and the others. But, before she has the oppertunity to do anything, the humans enter a forbidden castle where evil lurks. Sophy is about to meet the evil insanity in person, The Shaddow King.

History

At the beggining, about nine months ago... I started with a entry for this competition called Elvish Dragon Riders. But as a evil being simply destoyed my computer and my life, it was lost * Readers should cry now *. Then I restarted the game on this computer... but it was not good enough... restarted once again. This time the game got to big!!! So I restarted, yes, once again, with this title, and eh, there was not much time left. But the game was finished I am the most groovy dude I know and... well, the game did not turn out like I would have wanted. As it went now, there is not any magic, if you look at the menu, you'll see that I planned to invoke some spells. I spent to much time on doing to little. If the contest would have been about three months from the beggining the final result would have been much more satisfying...ach, play the game and tell me what you think, mail me at BadMrBox@hotmail.com
