------------------------------------------------------ Microsoft Windows 98 README for the OEMIG directory on the Windows 98 CD ------------------------------------------------------ (c) Copyright Microsoft Corporation, 1999 This document provides complementary or late-breaking information to supplement the Microsoft Windows 98 documentation. ------------------------ How to Use This Document ------------------------ To view OEMIG.TXT on-screen in Notepad, maximize the Notepad window. To print OEMIG.TXT, open the file in Notepad or another word processor, then on the File menu, click Print. -------- CONTENTS -------- OEMIG.INF - The installation file. DIRECTDB.DLL - The import engine used the read Outlook Express 5 messages and import them. OEMIGLIB.DLL - The user interface file for importing Outlook Express 5 messages. OEMIG.TXT - The file you are currently reading. These files are used after uninstalling Windows 98 Service Release to allow Outlook Express 4 to import mail messages that were received while running Outlook Express 5. ========================================================== OEMIG.INF - ALLOWS OUTLOOK EXPRESS 4.0 TO IMPORT MESSAGES RECEIVED WHILE RUNNING OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5 ========================================================== To install this update, please do the following: 1: Close Outlook Express 4 2: Select OEMIG.INF found in the \Tools\MTSutil\OEMIG folder on the Windows 98 CD. 3: Right-Click OEMIG.INF. -or- Hold down the SHIFT key and press the function key, F10. 4: Reboot the system 5: Open Outlook Express 4 and import the messages by click on File, then click Import, click Messages, and then follow the on-screen instructions. This file requires Outlook Express 4.0 or 4.01 and a mail account must be configured. On Windows 95 it may be necessary to manually install this package. To manually install follow the directions listed below. Note: represents the drive letter where Outlook Express is installed. 1: Copy the file OEMIGLIB.DLL to :\Program Files\Outlook Express\ 2: Copy the file DIRECTDB.DLL to :\Program Files\Common Files\System\ 3: Click on Start then Run and type the following command "regsvr32 :\Progra~1\Outloo~1\oemiglib.dll" Then click OK 4: Click on Start then Run and type the following command "regsvr32 :\Progra~1\common~1\system\oemiglib.dll" Then click OK 5: Reboot the system 6: Open Outlook Express 4 and import the messages by clicking on File, then click Import, click Messages, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
