The My Computer window shows you the contents of your computer.
Tip!

Show Me %~% Double-click (C:) in the My Computer window to view the contents of your hard disk.

Show Me %~% Double-click the My Documents folder to open it, and view any files or folders it may contain.
Tip!

Show Me %~% Create a new folder, by clicking the File menu in the My Documents window, pointing to New, and clicking Folder.

Your newly created folder, named New Folder, is now in the My Documents window.

Show Me %~% Using the right mouse button (right-click), click the New Folder icon, and click Rename on the shortcut menu. Type Sample Folder to replace the default folder name, New Folder, and press ENTER.

Show Me %~% You can also create a new file in this window.

To create a new file, click the File menu in the My Documents window, point to New, and then click WordPad Document.
Tip!

Show Me %~% Right-click the New WordPad Document icon, and click Rename. Type Sample File to replace the default document name, and press ENTER.

You have now created a new file and a new folder.

Show Me %~% Now that you've learned how to create files and folders, you'll learn how to organize your work by placing your files into folders. %~% Click and hold down your left mouse button on the Sample File icon, move your pointer to the Sample Folder icon, and release the mouse button. This procedure is called dragging.

Show Me %~% Your file is now inside your folder.

Double-click the Sample Folder icon to view the Sample File.
Tip!

Show Me %~% To close the Sample Folder window, click the Close button on the title bar.
