Up to four people can play, each competing to become the top manager in the country. The game is entirely mouse controlled. To select an icon, move the onscreen pointer to the icon and press the left mouse button. The board game and the strategy game share a main icon screen. These icons control the various aspects of running a football club. These icons are numbered as : 1. TEAM RATINGS 2. START MATCH 3. CUP FIXTURES 4. SAVE/LOAD GAME 5. PLAYER DETAILS 6. CLUB INFO. TEAM RATINGS: On selecting this icon you are presented with three options:- Hot Shots - Lists the current top 20 players in the various leagues. Form - Lists the top 20 teams in the various leagues Ratings - Lists the top 20 teams in terms of the squad strength START MATCH: There are 3 ways of veiwing results: ALL - All the results of the five divisions are shown. DIVISIONS - Only the divisions which contain one of the managers is shown TEAMS - Only the results of the teams managed are shown. For the first two options only the crowd attendances are shown. For the last option all goal- scorers and times are shown. CUP FIXTURES: Displays the fixtures for the current season's matches. Only teams in the European championship play in the UEFA cup. SAVE/LOAD GAME: Select DIR to veiw the contents of the disk in DF0: To load a previously saved game click on the relevent file name in the directory and then select LOAD GAME. Do NOT use the PREMIER DIVISION disk to save and load games, use a seperate formatted disk. PLAYERS DETAILS: This option allows you to deit the teams. Clicking on the top left of the icon displays the team information graphically, clicking bottom right, displays the information as text. GRAPHICS: The players are represented by an icon showing - playing position, skill rating and a bar for current fitness level. If a player is injured or is playing out of position then a small icon is displayed over the player. Clicking on two different player icons will swap over their respective positions. TEXT: To change a players position simply click on the two players that are to be swapped. The team selection screen has five icons along the top. (from L- R) CHANGE FORMATION: Selecting this will display the formation box. There are four parts to this box. The first is the formation used by the team. This is changed by clicking over it. The next box is a tick. Click to select the diplayed formation. The other two boxes are automatic selection options. The computer will the select the best team either on the strength of the player's skills (ATS-S), or fitness (ATS-F). OPPOSITION: Displays the opposition's current team. VALUES: Rates the predicted performance of the squad. PLAYER INFO: Clicking on this animates the icon. Click on a player to display a detailed information report. RETURN TO MAIN SCREEN. Need i say it ??? CLUB INFO: Displays the current club statistics, eg. Stadium, capacity etc. etc. At the bottom of the screen are two other options:- HONOURS: Shows team perfomance over the previuos eight seasons. POLICING: Alters the relative security of the football stadium. An estimated crowd value should be entered for upcoming matches. THE STRATEGY GAME: To sell or train a player, go to the player details icon on the main menu, at the bottom of the screen are two icons representing - sell a player and train a player. Click on the respective icon and follow the instructions as per the board game. To buy a player wait until after a match when players will become randomly available. THE BOARD GAME: Before every match, each manager moves his counter once around the board by clicking on the dice icon. This moves the counter a random number of squares (between 1 - 6). Occasionly the manager is given the chance to move a square of his choice. This denoted by an "exploding" square. To choose which square to jump to (within six squares of your current position), click on the square using the mouse. Around the board are eight different types of squares. These squares are represented as follows:- 1. PHONE = UTILITIES. 2. RED CROSS = INJURIES. 3. SKULL = BAD LUCK. 4. LEG = COACH. 5. APPLE ?? = CASINO. 6. COIN = MONEY. 7. B-SHIRT = BUY. 8. S-SHIRT = SELL. UTILITIES: Allows one of five options to be altered. CAPACITY - Increase ground capacity. CAMERAS - Increase ground security. Although cameras are expenxive they can survey a large area of the croed, which will reduce the amount of policing needed. COACH - Select new coach. The coach affects training and the youth team players. PHYSIO - Select new physio. The physio affects players fitness. GATE PRICE - Change gate entry price. INJURIES: Displays any current players that are experiencing problems. BAD LUCK!: Avoid this square. COACH: This is the training square. There are two options. TRAINING - Increases the amount of training allocated to a particular player. RE-TRAINING - Allows a player from one position to be re-trainedto another. CASINO: Spend here to improve your bank balance. Possibly! MONEY: This deals with monetary matters good or bad. BUY: A random number of players are offered for sale to all the managers. Each is allowed to make a bid subject to his bank balance. The player is sold to the highest bidder, providing the team selling believes the bid is high enough. SELL: This allows you to sell any of your non-injured players. Before selling a player his details can be veiwed by selecting the player info option. END OF SEASON: At the end of each season the top three teams in divisions 2,3, and 4 are promoted and the bottom three in 1,2, and 3 relegated. The teams in division 2,3, and 4 which occupy positions 4 to 7, play off for a single position in a higher league. The English league champions can apply for admission into Europe but they must satisfy the following criteria:- A GOOD FINANCIAL POSITION A GROUND CAPACITY OF 40000 (SHITE) A GOOD LEAGUE RECORD GOOD SECURITY MEASURES (Note: Even if the above conditions are fulfilled a successful team must wait until a position is avaialable in Europe).
